“Art frees the mind.”
The idea of “Balance in/is Life” is reflected in my art. Over the years I have explored many media- oil, watercolor, pastel, and acrylic. That road has led me down the creative path to painting using a combination of materials and acrylic. Often the interpretation of horizon represents the balance in the complex world of a landscape or other composition. My paintings may include combining non-objective elements with words or recognizable images.
As a painter for over 30 years, Rae Belkin has painted subjects from portraits to landscapes. While an elementary teacher, she painted in oils. After her husband’s retirement, and their eventual move to Port Ludlow, Washington, Rae studied watercolor and pastel. A journey begun as an art major in college has led to creating artwork using mixed media. From once capturing a moment in time with a photo-realistic approach, she now captures thoughts and concepts with a unique style incorporating paint, ink, and acrylic on canvas or paper. Her work is held in private collections throughout the United States and in Europe.
